Tobago for Reena's Birthday!
Keeping with my new vow to go to Tobago once per month for the rest of my time here, 5 of us American girls went for Reena's (another Fulbrighter and my downstairs neighbor) birthday the last weekend in January/first weekend in February. We just stay by Pigeon Point for two days, went out for some real italian pizza both nights, watched the super bowl b/c in Tobago there is a tv. The ferry ride over was rough, with everyone who wasn't sleeping (i was sleeping with the Gravel that knocks me out) getting sick (poor Martina), and then the ride back to Trinidad was delayed by 3 hours. But it was a good weekend and worth the rough trip!

Biking in Chagauramas
One day before roommates returned and school started up. My friend, Whitney, and I decided to rent some bikes and ride around Chaguaramas. The bikes were too big, and we only rented them for an hour...so we didn't get very far.
Still nice scenery, even though we never found the bike trails.

UWI campus
Here are just a few pictures of the campus I am at everyday.
This is the Bursary's office where I pay rent.
Center for Language Learning (CLL). I have Spanish class here, I lime here with friends a lot, and I was here a lot in the beginning because the International Office is in here as well.
Sports and Physical Education Center (SPEC) i.e. the gym where I work out.
The ugly library I pretty much lived in last semester and despise (no bags, food, or drink inside...i.e. a freezing pain in my butt).

The Department of Behavioural Sciences is located on the second floor of this building.
The Department of Natural Sciences, the department of International Relations, SALISES (or the Law Department) and Center for Gender Studies and Development is to the right of these (not pictured).

Sandbaggers and Karaoke and JMalone's
My friend Lynneil's friend, Richard aka Chynee, is on TnT's soca version of American Idol...Soca Star. He is a finalist and they follow around the finalists for a day with their friends and family. So Richard had a lime at Sandbaggers...a billiard. By the time we arrived, the cameras had left, but we didn't really want to be on TV, we just wanted to lime. We played darts, foozball and pool. After, we migrated to JMalone's for Karaoke. We didn't get up to sing, but Lynn and I plan to choose a song ready to sing for next time.

Ruby Tuesday Lime
Yes, they have Ruby Tuesdays in TnT (along with subway and KFC and TGIF). Rashida decided to throw a big lime (20 people who were all late except me and Chanel who were early haha oh Trinis) with friends who are coming and going to school before the Vac ended.

Asa Wright
Just after I got back from Christmas at home, I went to Asa Wright Bird Sanctuary via the North coast route. Here is what I saw:

A venomous snake we saw on our walk just mindin its own business.
The owl butterfly...can you guess why it is called that?

Caroni Swamp
Somehow between Tobago and Home I went to Caroni Swamp...here are some of the things we saw.
This pic doesn't do our 'Christmas Tree' justice. The red are the Scarlet Ibis, the White are the Snowy Egrets, and somewhere are the Tri-Colored Herons. They all converge on this tree for the evening at dusk.
Pretty.

The tree-climbing crab that has Carotene in it that the Scarlet Ibis eat that give them their red color.
A Blue Heron

Cool Mango-tree roots.
